Duane R. Monteith, MD, FACS is an experienced cardiothoracic surgeon serving southern New Jersey including Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Atlantic counties. He specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgery (robotic and VATS) and thoracic surgical oncology. He also promotes the importance of lung cancer screening and lung nodule surveillance.
Dr. Monteith strives to establish strong, communicative relationships with his patients to ensure they receive an optimal level of care from the initial consultation to long after their recovery. He takes a collaborative approach to patient-centered care and values careful listening. He is affiliated with Jefferson Health New Jersey and is the director of Thoracic Oncology at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center - Washington Township.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
Dr. Monteith received his Bachelors of Science degree from Howard University with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa. He then stayed on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from Howard University College of Medicine (for which he was awarded the distinguished Trustees Scholarship, a full-tuition merit-based scholarship).
He completed his General Surgery residency and chief residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He received his fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at New York University Medical Center.
